Scott 340B Receiver ---- Information (Model Variation?) Needed

I have seen HH Scott 340B receivers (both in-person and photos on the Internet) having cream-colored-plastic slide switches, and others having black-plastic slide switches. This is not a subtle distinction due to age or soil. The switches are different.

Does anyone know how, why, as of when, or something else about this difference?

I will have to verify later, but I believe that my 340B has both.

That's unusual. I've seen one or the other, not a mixture of both in one unit. EXCEPT, HOWEVER, I saw a 340b where just the POWER switch was black, all others cream colored. Here, no doubt the power switch went bad and was replaced with what was available: a black switch.

If you have both types of switches, perhaps your 340b came from the factory with the cream-colored slide switches, but at some later date is was serviced, including needing a new switch or two, but the technician could not match the cream-colored version so instead substituted what he could get, which was the black.

Are there other old Scott units that use the cream-colored switches? Did Scott ditch the the cream switch and switch to the black switch? Maybe the other way around: which switch was witch?

And by the way on the 340b also, I've seen metal knob caps that look like dark-yellow brass (call it tarnished brass), and on other specimens that are more of a silvery brass (not straight silver looking, but silvery with some yellow tone). Did Scott make these changes, or was some other matter at play?

mine have black sliders, though I never use the filters or turn off the speakers. Only on/off. Paired with ADS L980 I drove past Binghamton for, I'm in hifi heaven. Truly spectacular, especially playing vinyl which plays louder and crisper/punchier than Spotify.

Scott slide switches are cheap junk. The black ones are probably replacements. On my Scott gear, I bypass as many of them as possible- especially worthless stuff like noise and rumble filters.
