Just a couple quick questions. Where is the selenium rectifier located, and would it use the same silicone bridge that would be used in a 299b? Ive read that it is responsible for low bias. True?

If memory serves, when you have the unit upside down with the front panel facing you the selenium rectifier is on the left side. But it's been at least 10 years since I had my unit. It looks like a little radiator. I replaced mine with a single 1N4007 diode with no further modification needed. It provides the negative supply for the bias.

I just looked at a picture. It is on the left side, mounted to the chassis but it isn't the kind that looks like a radiator, it is a little metal plate with 2 wires on it.

Looks like i did the work when changing the coupling caps. Pic attached. Looks like a resistor was also replaced to make up for the voltage increase. Been several years since I bought this.
