Scott 350R FM issues

Found this out garage sale hunting. Face plate is clean, wood sides need replacing but I can manufacture some new ones. Overall I really like the look of this unit.

It sounds good on AM and Aux but on FM I get no signal and if I turn the muting on I get a high pitched whine that increases if you turn the volume. I don't mess with tuner sections and will be taking this to a tech.

Anyone want to chime in on where the issue may lie? Does it just need an alignment or most likely something more?

One strange thing is I checked the right and left fuses and they were missing but it was working anyways. I am not an electrician but I thought if those weren't there is shouldn't work at all?

Well, no replies, I guess you can't win them all. The tech looked at it and quoted $200 so I walked (minus the $30 fee). I think it may be time to find a new tech. When I spoke with him about it it sounded like he did had not done any troubleshooting but was going to try and replace parts to see if that took care of it. - Sheesh I can do that!

Try posting in the Tuner forum or PM PunkerX. Tuners are about the most complicated component in vintage gear and require a level of expertise you won't find in just any old forum. You might also try to contact your local Ham radio club, if there's one around there, they will usually know someone who can do alignments etc...

Thanks. Waiting for the tech to put it back together. I think he was upset that I wouldn't fork over $200 so he could keep guessing and replacing parts.
