Scott serial number identification

Hi all,

I have a Scott 299C with a serial# 155266. I'm trying to figure out what version that makes it. Does anyone have some reference that shows this info?

Thanks very much!

I'm not sure but take a look on the header of the schematic. I know the revision dates are recorded, perhaps they list the serial numbers that correspond to the revs.

The only reliable way to match up a Scott amp to a schematic is to visually check the part values, controls equipped and tube compliment. No reliable documentation to match schematic to model number that I've ever heard about. I have one schematic where the amp uses a 7199 phase splitter that has no serial numbers on it. I have another that uses a 6GH8/6U8 phase splitter that states serial #116,100 and beyond.....but I bet another version came out ofter that. Only a couple schematics exist but 7 different versions of the amp. The differences are not huge and the basic theory of rebuilding all these pieces are the same. Go under the chassis investigate and make a parts list would be my advise.

I read a story once that back when HH Scott was sold all the factory records and documentation was thrown in a dumpster......along with a ton of valuable spare parts.

Those are the kind of stories that break your heart. :tears:

So the phase splitter is a good starting point in determining the mostly likely configuration?

One piece to the puzzle. This really is not rocket science stuff here. Pull a part out and replace with with a like kind value. When dealing with a factory original wired amplifier you don't have to worry about Kit built wiring errors. It's pull one part and a time and replace it. Be carefull investigate your parts properly and you should be fine.

Heck take a picture of the under chassis and post it up.

Here are a couple of pics that may help provide some clues.

Thanks Craig and everyone!

What are the two phase splitter/driver tubes directly in the center of the amp with no metal shields over them?

This LK72A schematic should come darn close to matching your amplifier.

Thanks, Craig! This is great. I notice the input selector on mine has 5 selector input functions i.e. Mic, NAB Tape, RIAA-NAB-ORTHO, Tuner, Extra. So that part isn't laid out just the same. Don't know if that changes anything with amps values.

Hi,

We need a HH Scott database page with downloadable manuals from the beginning of HH Scott to 1980. We also need a history of the company also.
