SCRATCHY DUST COVERS

I tried something new to make my DUAL 1268 dust cover look better, and it worked very well.
BACK TO BLACK is a auto product.(Armor All is different, and I haven't tried it.)
I washed the plastic cover, then rinsed, then alcohol wiped/rinsed.
Then I wiped on BACK TO BLACK. And clean cloth wiped off.
The cover is so much better! WUNDERBAR!
I thought about using headlight polishing compound, or Cerium Oxide windshield polishing compound,,, but,,, maybe on the next one.

You have filled the scratches with a slow to dry makes it look good compound. Removing the scratches is best but can be hard work. Starting with the coarsest sanding/finishing/polishing compound to remove the gouges then working through to the very fine cut cleaners/polishing compounds takes time. Check out SmileyFaceEQ‘s threads on turntable restore as he shows some nice results, search dustcover and his name in turntables.

There is also a dustcover restore thread in the TT stickies thread stuck in this forum.

But no worries now, your happy with your table and have time to research before doing anything. My experience with back to black is automotive and rain washed off the good looks over time…keep your table out of the rain for longer good looks from that application.

Oh, welcome to ak

I too try to keep my turntables out of the rain. Particularly ones that use any wood in their construction, or electricity.
