Screws? Screws! SCRWED? Where do I buy one?

Thanks to my furry friends, I always got screwed losing one of two of them. I usually put the screws straight into the parts box but I was working very late last night and forgot to put them in the parts box.

This morning, the little rascals played with them and I lost a couple of screws. This is not the 1st time it happened but I just don't know how to tell them these screws are not edible.

Where do I BUY these Japanese screws? I don't need another Japanese coming to screw me, THANK YOU! I just need to buy the screws!

3x8, 3x10 phillips round head etc?

Your local hardware store should have them, you want metric (not imperial) screws. Bring a same kind of screw that you have, and match it up with the thread board (they should have one).

+1, the ACE Coast-to-Coast in the small town I live near has a LOT of metric stuff in it. And stainless, And Chrome. Whole isle full of nice fasteners.

I'm told Fastenal has every darn thing you can imagine but just never seem to get over there. They are on line. Grainger's is good too. I see their menu show 21K+ screws.

I have a PILE of old computer screws that saves the day once in a while.
 
Also Home Depot has a selection of metric in stainless and also some hex-socket type in black oxide. The HDs around here have them in drawers under the bagged screws in the hardware aisle.

Lots of screw-saving containers usually around the house, like a film canister, old medicine or vitamin bottle, or even a sandwich-sized hefty bag. Just write the name of the unit they're from on it with a sharpie. Keeps the Gremlins away.

Thanks Guys! I appreciate the info. No ACE around me but got Home Depot and lowes but none of them carries the metric size I want here. I could probably try Hobby people or McMaster to order online. Geez...I hate to be screwed by screws!

Oh, by the way, the magnet poles doesn't work for me. The little rascals can take anything away from the magnets. :(
 
Look for a hardware store with an aisle-long cabinet of nuts and bolts in cardboard 'drawers' (they're pretty common). The smallest metric screw in the cabinet is usually 3mm, which is what you need.
 
Thanks again everyone for telling me how to get screws but not to get screwed in doing so.

I found local hobby store has some selection but not cheap. I think McMaster-Carr is by far the best selection available and pretty reasonably priced. I ordered quite a few different size and shapes of 100s each.
