Searching for Pioneer SA 9800 display

Dear members, I have inherited a Pioneer SA9800 from my late grandfather. Needless to say that I am very attached to it. Now my girlfriend accidentally broke it (too strong input signal) and everything could be mended, except for the display (with the blue bars).

Now I am thus desperately searching for this display (part number AAV-001)!

Could anybody help me here?

Your best bet is to subscribe to the site and post a wanted ad in the barter town section. If found a few hard to find parts that way. Good luck on your search

Is it physically broken? Maybe it needs parts around it replaced.

No my tech guy (as far as tech, I am from Barcelona) tells me the neon bulb is broken :-(. I have bought another display on Ebay which is very dim (almost no light) so this one might be mendable?

It's not neon. It's fluorescent (VFD - vacuum fluorescent display) . The voltages need to be correct. If the display is dim, I have read that they can be rejuvenated like a CRT. I believe there is a thread here about that very subject.

There are segments in the display indicating the source tape/tuner/aux and then there are the power meters (blue bars). Did the source indicators still work on the original? If so you may have only damaged the comparator ic’s.
