Sears Idler Tire Replacement Help

I was wondering if anyone could help me find a replacement for the tire of the idler for this Sears record player. I have attached an image of the crumbled ring and the idler itself. I measured the outer diameter to be 1.5 inches or about 37mm. The height from the table was 2mm and the width was 5 mm. The model number is 304.91855250

I had a Panasonic(?) all-in-one with either one of the last-gasp BSR changers or one of the Matsushita changers that resembled a BSR. It had an idler like that with a plastic center, just like the OPs. It didn't turn hard and crumble, though. It turned to the sticky tar/glue that some belts turn into. I tried to use it without taking it apart and inspecting things first and it sure made a huge mess of everything.:no:

I swapped in an idler out of an older BSR, and it was a perfect fit. I never thought about using an O-ring. They actually make idlers for my little RCA RP190 45 changer that use replaceable O-rings, because they don't have a mechanism that pulls the idler away from the motor shaft when they are turned off, so they put a divot in the idler when they sit for a long period.

I was curious if that would work too, I’ll have to stop by a hardware store and see if I can find anything with the same dimensions! I did order a replacement from Gary at thevoiceofmusic yesterday but it would be good to have an extra !
 
Tractor supply might have something. I got a big O-ring for a pump or something and used it as the rewind belt in an old R2R tape machine.
