Sears Silvertone Model 2029

I bought my first stereo tube amplifier today. It is a Sears Silvertone Model 2029. I have been searching and have not found any information about it. Can anyone tell me anything about this amp? Year? Quality? Rarity? I see that it is a 10 w per channel. Mostly what I found online is information about some Silvertone console amps and a lot of information about Silvertone guitars and guitar amps. I will post photos later if anyone is interested. I found it in the Sams Photofact index - folder 487-12 (1960). Not in my files, though. You probably find a copy online, but first check your library - many can get them for the cost of copies.

I wanted to post photos of my first and only tube amp just because I think it's cool. Anyone seen one of these before?

I listened to it for a little while last year on a pair of Hereseys and it sounded ok. but then it just buzzed when I turned on the power so I put it away. I just recently got it out and a friend is going to help me replace some caps in it. Hopefully it will be repaired soon.

Whats it using for tubes? Looks like a pair of 6bq5 per channel? Thats what I'd expect for a 10w rating. If its got halfway decent iron inside, it should be a nice sounding unit. I dig the 50s/60s "atomic era" styling with the atom logo in the corner.

I like the atomic logo too. I found some information on this piece last year but not much, I think I found that it was early 60's and thought I would match it with my AR4's from 64 or the Hereseys. The tubes that it has are four 6BQ5, two 7199 and one 12AX7. I am new to tubes so I am not sure about "halfway decent iron". It is heavy for its size, I guess that it weighs 12-15 LBS. I think this amp is way cool and am anxious to get it working again.

I have never seen one of those before, but that is one nice piece you got there. That'll be a really great project for you and your friend to do. Once you get it done, I'm sure it will sound great! Sounds like you have the right speakers covered.
