Isn't that what your'e supposed to practice your soldering skills on, something not valuable ?

:jawdrop: The guy sounds like a true perfectionist....and I second the jaw drop!!

hell.. I'd give $100 just to have a stereo with a cool joystick on it.. it'd be like changing gears all the time... MMMMMm MMMMMmm MMMmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

That is pretty cool!

I likey as well! I always liked orphans, that one has some love in it, spare room for:D's I love havin' folks say does it work? Would prabably sound alright with dif. speaks, always the weak link on those things.

Well, I've got to say, for what it is and what it likely cost new, that is pretty cool. If I had a good sample of the all-in-one unit I used for most of high school, I might invest that kind of TLC just for the nostalgia value.

Back in the 70's, I was the oddball in my group of friends. They all had new systems similar to the one mentioned above. I was the youngest of two older brothers who like me, were audio hobbyists. So, I had plenty of old tube gear to play with. My HS system was comprised of a '62 VM manual table with an Empire cartridge, an early 60's Heathkit tube integrated amp (6BQ5's), a Fisher tube FM tuner and a pair of Utah bookshelf speakers (sealed two-ways). Had a tape deck too...albeit a mono Wollensak R2R. Didn't get a stereo cassette deck until Christmas of '74. (Don't know why I'm rambling on about this...)

I'll bet the Quad collectors would like to have it ... glad it's in Chicago so I don't have to make that decision ... I'll post one of the cleaned up pics for posterity.
