Seas/Dynaco Woofer Repair

Came across a damaged Dynaco A25 woofer, and after much thought I patched it with speaker surround glue and a piece of coffee filter.

Question: Is a rear patch sufficient? I'd like to improve the frontal cosmetics but it's one of those things where I know it's probably only going to look worse the more it gets altered. If it absolutely has to be patched both sides, I was thinking about a small patch in front with perhaps a bit of cement grey spray paint around the patched area.

Any suggestions?

They still sound OK? Then keep the grills on and call it good! That kind of tear in the cone isn't a deal breaker if patched correctly. It looks like you over did the glue, but otherwise as long as it's sealed, you should be fine.

I think you are ok with the rear patch. I would just play it and enjoy.

I tore the patch out of a plain white coffee filter and soaked it in dampener compound (speaker glue) that I thinned out with water. Also painted some on the cone, so maybe a little too much glue but the edges tapered down nicely.
