ESL -Original Electrostatic Loudspeaker by QUAD - $600 (Seattle-Fremont)

Pair Original Quad ESL with custom stands. Old (yes) gold finish. A few cosmetic dings but they still make nice sound. Own some audiophile history! Firm price.

It's a 405 amp, 34 preamp and model 4 tuner, still be valid today as a high end setup or just old school cool?

This stuff is like a magnet when you see both pieces at the same time, or fairly good prices it seems too.

Certainly a good deal considering the recap on all of those units. As for where they stand in sound quality, nowhere really special. Class A low powered amp designed for its electrostatic speakers. There are certain mods to help out and I once played around with a few of them when I had older esl's.

Looks like a great combo for the ESL's, those 57's can't take any more power than 25-35 watts.

The need more than a recap. The Panels will need to be rebuilt - that is around 1500-2300 USD if someone does them for you.

Yeah, I was talking about the amp combo, but you're right on the speakers as well. By now, those panels are probably in bad shape and possibly with a few arced spots. diy options are out there, but it is virtually impossible....ime.

Exactly. And that's about what I paid for a pair forty years ago.

Even with a few small arcs they would still sound okay, albeit a tad less output.
