Sounds like your dds1s are like mine were. Read all the posts for your answers. I'm very happy with the sound of these speakers. I listen to lp's 99.9% of the time threw a all tube system. My only upgrade plans for 2013 are a sas stylus for my shure m97xe. The material I bought at JoAnn fabric store. One box cost $70 if you use their 40% off coupon. Look in the flyer found at the store. One box does both speakers with almost nothing left. Fairfield nu-foam(poly fill). 27" x 5 yards x 2". They sell it by the yard but buy one box, unopened. Cutting it is tough but a sharp scissors works.

Thanks for the tip on the fabric! I'm glad you're enjoying them. Unfortunately the metal screens on my set did not survive too well. They were rusty and coated with black paint. There was so much gunk plastered on, I wonder how much sound actually made it through! Fortunately the woofers are fine. I'm thinking of a good way to attach some grill material to the fronts. Also, the mesh protecting the horn drivers at the opening, is nearly covered with oxidation. I'll have to pull it, possibly replace it with something suitable.

Aportilla fixed up a set that turned out really nice. Left the metal screen off.

Those are very sharp! These things are so damn heavy lol. I'll get them up and running in Spring.

I'm not sure if it's the diaphragms breaking in or new caps in the crossovers breaking in or a bit of both. But the dds-1's are sounding better/sweeter all of a sudden. I've noticed a big difference in the last few hours of listening. I'm thinking twice about the attenuator mod. Can anyone tell me how long diaphrams take to break-in? How about caps?

Did you ever take a picture of the completed crossover? I’d love to see the mods with my own eyes. I just picked up a pair of these and I’m researching the tar out of this mod before I jump in. Thanks!

It's been a while. Guess I've been listening to records. I put 10" Casters on the Seeburgs. Ugly I know. Makes them easier to move from wall to listening spot. They sound much bigger! I'm really surprised about the improvement in Soundstage. Wasn't expecting an improvement. Was hoping it wouldn't hurt to much. They are about 6" taller than before but the image of sound is more than 6" bigger. Here is a picture from my listening spot, crossover and Altec Lansing Attenuator 30904. I still love these speakers.
