Seeburg DDS1, two pair.

Yeah, I saw those and Googled them; apparently the horn tweeter is Altec, but the woofers are Utahs, or at least that was the information I saw from an old thread here.

Bargain. Horns and drivers wort that much or more.

Here's my question: the ad says "2 x 15" speakers with Altec 806a Drivers and 811 B Horns". Only the horn tweeter is Altec, correct? Are there 2 15" woofers in each cabinet? An old thread I saw here seemed to suggest that there would only be one Utah woofer in each.

He's seen them priced at $1,800 a pair but will sell all 4 for $400???? Think about that statement for a brief second. I know it throws up a few red flags for me.

^Thats awesome. Lol
You were the one who told me about these speakers a few years ago.

I have an Uncle in Pulaski who keeps an eye out for me on CL. He has found me some good stuff over the years.

I probably still have a few of the legs kicking around here, the buyer didn't want them.

I can't be positive that's the same lot. But, i sold them without legs, and they went somewhere north of me.

basically $400 for the 806's.
There have been some nice results in modifying these by others here including gordonW I believe, but there wasn't really much left of the original once dialed in.

Yes, two woofers per cabinet.

I'm tempted a little, but I know that I would never listen to them myself, and would only be getting them for the purpose of chopping them up and trying to sell the parts at auction. I guess that could be done, but it wouldn't be easy, because if it were, the guy who owns them now would probably be doing just that.

Of course, another reason is that my wife would be guaranteed to say "Are you out of your farkin' mind??" -- and she would definitely be right. ;)

You can list something at whatever price you want, that doesn't mean you're going to get it.

My issue with them is they are so damn ugly. I’d also be tempted to part them out. You could double your money with just the 806/811 combos. And I’m sure the Utah woofs are worth something.

But of course best case scenario is some Seeburg fan buys them and keeps them intact.

Well there we have it.......He's probably just a good ole boy trying to sell some big speakers for a fraction of market value. Someone should go help the guy out and give them a new home.

Wow - those are pretty cool looking to me (beauty is in he eye of the beholder). Ready for that nice quad setup!

Thats a steal. you could make $1000 parting them out. More if the woofers are Altec. A little less if the horn drivers are blown.

My issue with them is they are so damned HEAVY. IIRC the cabinets are 1.25" thick. I like the looks though.

As I mentioned before, $400 is a bargain. And I agree, it would be best if kept intact (or mostly intact)

If they were near me I'd certainly grab them.
