Looking for something simple with preouts, 6ohm stable, like a clean 40wpc, new enough to still have ok caps, preferably with an EQ defeat. Black face, gold accents if possible.

How much are you looking to spend?

Where do you plan on purchasing, local? internet?

You have remote in your thread title so that will limit you to 80's and upwards, if you can find one look for a Luxman R-115 with OEM remote it meets your thread title criteria of 70WPC. It's a great receiver from a great brand.

Should play well with your ADS speakers too

Luxman! I always forget about them. There's also Nakamichi too with remotes. Proton, may be wise to avoid, considering their caps. I'm always keeping an eye out for the newest generation of Sansui with remotes. Have a couple Yammy's and Marantz's. I like the Singapore Marantz with my yet to be diagnosed l520's, but the Bozak on the Japan Marantz AVR doesn't feel right, though the Vienna Acoustics single poly woofer center takes the brunt. Also a pair of Wharfedale w25 I'd hate to overpower. And a pair of Lineum RCA 2-way that could use some juice. "Got to find me the right fit." Kind of want an STA2700, but that's not it. Already have imperfect sta2200 & 2380, but figure a 2700 could compliment. Then I could go a different route with something small without remote, but still want preouts. Price is a hybrid of opportunity and shrewd negotiation, crime of passion. Definitely avoiding variable loudness if at all possible, unless defeatable.
 
McIntosh MC 240 or MC 250 power amplifier, McIntosh preamp with Remote. Has Autoformers, drives 4 ohm loads like they were 2 ohm loads. Reliable as a Mack Truck.

Think I had one of those and couldn't figure out how to get to it's shielded dirty pots to clean them.

I'm not sure about the physical condition of the Luxman r113 I've happened upon, and the price is too high considering a missing knob. There must be something in the 35wpc range with a decent power supply, nice SQ and of course preouts. Remote is not essential, though nice. Common and reasonable cost
 
If not insistent on remote and gold accents, Proton D940 receiver or D540 integrated amplifier would fit the bill. These even carry 2 ohm ratings and something like 6 dB worth of peak dynamic headroom which is huge.
 
Never had a cap fall off a D940 I bought new 30+ years ago. I think a lot of the problems associated with Proton are a result of abuse leading to melted boards, tracings and/or attachment points of parts. Dynamic peak ratings don't mean that an amplifier should be expected to deliver the same output on a continuous basis but unfortunately that's what often seems to occur with Protons of this era.
 
Guess it’s best not to assume. However dynamic they are, those protons may be advanced enthusiast territory on the used market.

I’m really liking the look of the Nak TA-2. With preouts, that could play well with a DBX MPA150 and look all matchy matchy.

Think a TA-2 could drive a pair of AR Teledyne AR28bx? How about a pair of
Linaeum Pro-LX5II simultaneous with the AR’s?

Is there an 80's Nikko, Scott, or Sherwood simple receiver 35wpc with preouts? I Should just scoop up a HH Scott rs250 and run the dbx off high level. The goal is something for the Wharfedale w25 & Lineaum 2-way, to take advantage of the DBX, which may be dedicated subwoofer duty, likely wireless low level input from an AVR on the otherside of the room.

Paid up for a NAD 3140 off of eBay, which unfortunately arrived with some cooked caps and noise from the power transformer. It’s on the way back to the seller.

The 3140 was a beautiful black & gold match to my component stack. Ideally looking for something with a secondary pre-out besides a mains in-out to avoid noise from jumpers.

Shame the NAD didn’t work out. Was certainly a pretty unit. A good 60-75rms would be more useful for the Bozak 3-way & ADS L520
