Seeking Denon DP-1200 set-up advice

You seem to have some great gear! How does the Linn Basik compare with the Denon? I was interested in getting a modern TT when I saw this one and jumped for it. How much of an upgrade are the modern TTs than the Denon (using the same gear)?

The Linn Basik LVX is just the tonearm I've had on my Thorens TD-125 for the 20 years I've owned it.

It's really a pretty decent arm, just not suited to the range of cartridges I'd like to use. I'm really not sure how I'd compare the arm on the Denon to the Basik, though it does seem to track quite well. I'd say that for what it is the DP-1200 is quite good. Mine was given to me by one of my students and I have to say that it's been a very pleasant surprise. The motor and platter unit seems to be absolutely bullet proof, really quiet and dead solid pitch. Even with a budget cart like a Grado Black (what I'm listening to at the moment) there's a nice sense of space, placement and balance in the sound. Even when I get my TD-125 re-done the Denon won't be going anywhere. There are obviously lots of new tables that are much better, but I personally prefer it to the lower end "audiophile" tables I've heard. Just my opinion. It's definitely a handy table to have around.

If it doesn't then either the mechanism between the lever and the cue isn't working or (more likely) the oil reservoir is empty or very low. Yes, there is cuing!

Hi... I just got my 1200 yesterday. Are you referring to little the knurled arm sticking out horisontaly of the post for the tone arm rest? Is that what is moved to cue the tone arm?

The big lever out front runs the tonearm lift as well as turning on the motor etc. The front of the two knurled screws adjusts the height of the tonearm rest, the one behind it the height of the cue.

Ok... I was referring to one of the older posts about being able to lift the arm with a lever to cue it to the record. Where is the lever that does that? Is it one of the horisontal knurled posts? I didn't quiet follow that explanation. I'm running an Ortofon Cart on my Denon.\

It actually is the arm toward the front of the table that does that. The linkage runs back from there.
