Sennheiser Hd660s with Marantz 2270 - good combo?

Here's my situation, I had a pair of Senheiser HD600 phones that I must have read paired well with a Schiit Vali (mk) preamp, which I manged to track down and find for cheap. Those phones did indeed sound very good through that amp as I was getting a more open, transparent sound than with the headphone out on my Marantz 2270 receiver. Those phones broke and I couldn't fix them (that's another story) so I bought a pair of HiFiMan Sundara phones and those sounded much better going through the Marantz but sounded rather thin with the Schiit Vali. I like the Sundaras, but I remember the sound of those Senhiesers, which I liked too and am tempted to buy another pair to have both sounds to play around with. I recently came across a good deal on a used pair of the HD660s phones, which I understand are a very nice model (maybe better than the HD600 that I had?) and I wonder if these phones would be likely to sound better with the Marantz than the HD600 phones did? I realize that various phones have differing ohm ratings and that this will determine what kinds of amps work best. I ask because I'm on the fence about buying these headphones, but if I know that they'll sound better going through my Marantz 2270 than though the Schiit Vali, I can sell the Vali and put that towards these other phones, which might be just enough to convince me to give into to the G.A.S. What do you think?

OK, I just made the very difficult decision to sell the Vali. I'm not using it currently with the Sundara phones that are my main set right now and I figure that if I want a headphone amp later for some reason, I can always buy another one and use the excuse to buy something that would be an upgrade to the Vali. I'm still on the fence about buying those HD660s phones becuase I already have some nice phones that I may end up liking better than those things... though there is that "Sennheiser sound..."

I've been mainly a speaker listener. Little headphone experience. I recently bought an Asgard 3, for my HE4XX and Sennheiser HD58X. My first dedicated headphone amp. It has about 3 watts to power for my HE4XX. Sounds pretty good. Seems to have power for bass. I think its on warm side. Almost identical ohm and sensitivity rating to the Sundara.

I've powered HE4XX with a Rogue Cronus Magnum V3 tube amp with 2 watt phono output. Sounded very good. And Rogue Sphinx which was fine. And Pioneer SA7500 V2 integrated. It was just OK. It's old and untouched. I don't know the headphone power ratings of the Sphinx or Pioneer.

I think my HD58X @ 150 ohms and 104 db spl aren't the power hog the HE4XX are.

I've not tried any other dedicated headphone amps, for comparison.
