SERIOUS problems with my JVC JL-F30

This one might be hard to explain, but I'm gonna try my best.

Recently, I acquired a JVC JL-F30 fully-automatic turntable. The only big problem it had initially was that the arm raising assembly was completely broken. Since then, some new problems have come up. They are as follows:

• When I try to move the tonearm in, it just bounces back. This happens even when I have the anti-skate set to zero (I don't think anti-skate is the problem here)
• The turntable still rotates when tonearm is in rest
• The gear part on the spindle will grind against the main gear

I think all three of the above are linked together in some way. Can someone please help?

Sounds like it is stuck in the auto start or auto return position. Think you will have to get to the gears and rotate them by hand until the cycle is complete. Then you can start looking for the broken gear.

Sounds like a problem with the auto-return mechanism - probably going to have to open it up for a look see - here's a link for the manuals

I've got an update to pass along. I somehow fixed the grinding problems and the weird thing with the tonearm getting propelled back. Now the problem is that the turntable will only play for a few seconds and then return to rest way before the record is over. What do I do now?

Did you get it figured out?
Did you download the manuals like was suggested by dzkfraser?
It is something mechanical, and having that service manual will help you see how it is all working together.
I just happened to get one finished up yesterday and am listening to it now. It is a nice table once you get the bugs worked out and get it lubed up.
