Here's some info, for you, that I got from Grumpy.

The contract has been signed with the new host. The tech will begin moving the database, very soon. The problem is, much of AK is polluted with software hacks, from a long-gone 'support' tech. The guy we have now, who comes highly recommended by Luther, will move AK, a piece at a time, and leave the junk behind. This is a guy we have used, previously, he knows our database, and most importantly, we trust him, by virtue of his past clean-up work. The downside is, he is not immediately available, for a short while, for pressing, and completely understandable reasons. We will wait for him, a matter of a couple of days. We can only wait, and hope.

In the meantime, we have shut down new registration, so that we don't have to ask people to re-register, if their AK account doesn't make it to the new server. Likewise, classifieds are closed. For the present, any sales or auctions, to benefit AK, can be posted in Business & Vendor Classifieds, by any member in good standing. This situation is temporary, but for an indefinite period of time.

Please, don't give me any credit for all the work going into the server migration. I'm just trying to hold down the fort, while others deal with the tough stuff.
 
Are there any new updates? LOL, AK is slower than a three-legged turtle here. :yikes:

I realize the server seems slow to some of you, but the data rates have been about normal for me after the day or so continual re-boots last week.

I'm usually on in the AM and then after 9 EST, might be a server load issue if I'm missing the "peak" hours.
 
Not much to report yet. We are currently waiting in the que to be moved. Sorry I cannot offer much more.

Given that there were 20 pages of new posts for me to slog through, I guess I'm one of the last to migrate over here.

I don't use pay-kick you in the balls-pal anymore. so is there any other way for me to give grumpy some money.

6 bucks isn't much. I've had hundreds of dollars of fun here. I can't afford to give hundreds, but I can do more then $6.

The $5000 per month = $60,000 per year figure comes from Grumpy, and represents where AK needs to be, not where it is. His actual post is on the topic is here.

There's a "Donate" button near the bottom of every page that takes you to a page with all kinds of options, including a physical address to send money to. :thmbsp:
 
5G a month is for us to exist on a large managed cluster of servers. That is definitely not what we are on but it is a nice pipe dream..
