Setting Crossover on my HT Setup

Let me quickly give my setup, then some graphs of actual measurements, then my question and my motivation:

Receiver:
Yamaha RX-A3040
Official: 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.06% THD
Measured (RX-A3000 per Audioholics):
7-channels 1kHz Psweep 65 wpc into 8-ohms at 1%THD
7-channel Dynamic PWR 153 wpc into 8-ohms at 1% THD

Amplifier (Front Channels):
Yamaha M-65
Measured (per LegendaryAmps):
170 Watts (8 ohms) from 20 to 20,000 Hz at 0.003% THD

Front Towers:
Polk Audio RTi A9
Official: 30-26,000 Hz (-3dB)
Measured (S&V): The –3-dB point is at 49 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 40 Hz.

Center:
Polk Audio CSiA6
Official: 55-26k Hz (-3dB)
Measured (S&V): The –3-dB point is at 73 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 63 Hz.

So my question becomes:
Where should I set my crossovers given the power requirements of my speaker setup vs the power output of my receiver and amplifier. Do lower frequencies require more power?

I'm noticing the M-65 is getting pushed quite a bit driving the RTiA9 speakers at full range (polk claims 50-500w power), so I'm thinking setting a crossover on those at 40Hz.

I'm also setting crossovers on the center/surrounds to relieve some of the power requirements from the RX-A3040 which will be using all 9-channels of amplification and 11-channels of processing.

My choices for crossover settings come in 20Hz steps, so 40Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz etc.

There is a view that bass in surround sound isn't required, I don't share this view. There have been surround mixes that take full advantage of surround bass, so much so that I've almost blown my surround speakers (!!!) on some of the content. That said though, I'm also conscious of the power requirements. The in-ceiling klipsch speakers are very sensitive, and I will be building backboxes for them. I chose them over the polk audio offering because, after extensive research, I concluded I needed the angling capabilities which polk doesn't offer. This means the ceiling speakers are not timbre matched to the rest of my system which is very frustrating.

Anyway, any input/help would be greatly appreciated!

So, I think some specifics could change based on the room and ear test, but I generally am in favor of using the sub for anything up to about 60. If I’m you, I’m starting with the mains at 40 and the rest at 60. And, yes, bass uses much more power so by redirecting the lowest frequencies to the sub you should get more volume, clarity and dynamics with less distortion from everything else. I’m not sure what calibration system that receiver uses, but some room correction might be able to even out the tonal differences between your different speakers to some degree. Not super sure about that but I think maybe audessy does some higher frequency eq work versus some systems that just handle levels and sub crossover.
If the ceiling speakers go in you might run them a little higher, like at 80.

Bear in mind, when you pick a crossover frequency for a particular set of speakers, my understanding is that the receiver both sends the frequencies above that number to the speakers, and below it to the sub on a speaker set by set basis. If all the channels are starting with a full frequency range all the bass not sent to any pair of speakers will go to the sub. So, you set your sub to play back all frequencies, and let the receiver decide for each set of speakers.
Also, most bass under 80hz is pretty non-directional, so you shouldn’t notice the bass not coming from a specific surround speaker unless you cross things higher than 80.
