So, I sold by Bozak Concert Grands. Sold my Altecs. Sold almost everything. I came across a pair of German made Quart 650S speakers. I posted on here about them somewhere. They have a hot hi-end. Ran it first through a good old Yamaha receiver. Then decided to try my Kenwood KA-7100. Actually, the Yamaha sounded better. Bought locally a used Hafler D200 amplifier ($120 and has a broken speaker connection post so I soldered a stub to it) and a Yamaha C-70 preamp with parametric tone control ($75 and the input selector touchpad sometimes takes a couple presses to totally engage a relay when unit just turned on...once warmed up is fine).
Hooked it all up and just wow. Able to dial it right in to perfect (for my ears at least). Not quite a match for the Bozaks but the footprint is about 1/8 with these and they don't weigh 225lbs each. In all, I can dial them into just a smidgen off the Bozaks.
