Here is is the question. I am puchasing greatest hits CDs. I have noticed that greatest hits from the same artists are being sold through different companies. Is it the case that "any" company can buy these songs, burn a CD and sell them? Is quality of the burnt recording the same between different companies?
I ask this because I just bought a Doobie Brothers greatest hits CD by Warner Brothers. China Grove just does not seem to have the same "presence" as I remember. I must admit to being heavily influence by years of hearing it in high school gymnasiums on huge speakers. But, my little JBL 4301Bs do pack a puch. There just seems to be something not quite there in terms of sound quality. For those of you who may remember, the only comparison I can make is to those K-Tell compilations that were sold a while back.
It is odd. I have never been dissapointed in a recording before, even though I like the song. Is there any way to tell how obtain a good recording of a song by the labeling or package?
