Sheldon Brown, 1944 - 2008

[pmsummer]

Quite a shock to hear that Sheldon passed away last Sunday.

His contributions to bike info on the Internet have been tremendous.

Sad to hear this as well. Kinda an underground legend of the bespoked world.

[soundweasel]

That is very sad! The first set of hand-built wheels I bought were made by Sheldon. :sigh:

[jcmjrt]

D*mn, that's a bummer. He's been an important bike guy for a long time. I hope someone else will carry on his website and work.

[Redboy]

Unfortunate, for sure. I really liked his stuff.

[phaxda]

He got me into fixed-gear riding, just a couple of years ago. And the my Dad's old Schwinn that Harris Cyclery fixed up for me has hauled many pairs of thrifted vintage bookshelf speakers on the back rack.

He was a kindred spirit who liked cool old stuff more than just about anyone I've ever met.

[soundmotor]

His article on Schwinn brazed frames educated me and saved mine from the scrap heap.

I've been on Bicycling Forums for years and AK for like 2 days... and came across this.
We'll miss Sheldon.
Cheers
