Sherwood 7100a wont turn off

Picked up a nice Sherwood 7100a from the payntake , cleaned her all up a couple fuse lamps and some deoxit and she is beautiful, all for 10.00.Only problem is the off dial to the right on topside doesnt turn off the lights,Its the loudness dial. Shouldn't that have a definite click off. So the lights do not go out, any ideas

Common problem. You'll have to unplug it, install an inline switch, or use one of those plug in sockets that incorporates a switch. I've done all three at various times and now use the plug in socket with switch.
 
I have an old (40 years) amp that has a totally shot on/off switch. Getting an exact replacement is far, far more trouble than it's worth. So I shorted the switch and now use the switch on a power strip to turn the amp on and off.
