Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Official Pink Floyd Thread.

Maybe it just a coincidence but the vast majority of my all time favorite musicians never used gimmicks or mentioned anything about politics and just focused on the music.

I was really glad when they kicked him out after The Final Cut (biggest letdown I have ever encountered as a fan of a band, especially after they had just completed 4 iconic albums in a row). A artist can choose to do whatever they want, but consumers/music fans can choose to stop listening to a artist when the artist loses their direction, becomes self absorbed or tries too hard.

As for Waters the activist, he is all over the map and I think I may have agreed with his opinions once or twice but the dozens of his shock jock headline grabbing attempts have failed miserably. I chose my music based solely on if I like what the musicians on the tracks are doing. Rogers solo work never did much of anything for me and his rudderless activist rants always seem to turn away more and more of his former fans. He would be better off talking about things he actually understands like the killer bass line he laid down on Sheep from Animals.

I am starting to think that Post Floyd Roger Waters needs to be one of the topics that gets retired from discussion on AK. He comes up often and their are two camps and it's difficult to discuss without getting political.
Some people love him and some don't and nothing we say is likely to change already established opinions.

Andy Jackson ‎– Signal To Noise
DVD audio 4.0 channel surround mix

"Andy Jackson, well known as the producer of Pink Floyd since the early 80’s, has now made his own fascinating record.
The quality of production is what one would expect from someone nominated twice for Grammys for Pink Floyd albums. What is less expected is that such an intriguing album would emerge from someone more normally behind the mixing desk"
