Shipping a Linear Tracking Turntable

I have a Technics SL-J2 I will be listing on ebay and since I have never shipped a linear tracking turntable, is there anything tips to packaging a linear drive turntable that I should know of, seems like it would be easier then a normal table but does the arm lock in th SL-j2?

Remove platter and wrap separately. Make certain the tonearm is very well secured. Make certain dustcover is safely secured.

I don't know about THAT model, but on the SL10, you cannot remove the platter too easily (not a casual user activity).
It came with three special spacers that need to be screwed into the bottom of the chassis to lift the platter off its thrust bearing.

Without those 3 spacers I dont think it would survive a trip.

I shipped a J2 and the platter does come off.

The platter on the technics SL-QL1 doesn't remove easy either.

On the QL1 there is an arm lock that will hold the arm in place. I would do that and remove the stylus. It just pops right off.

Thanks I will check that out. Was going to take the platter of just not sure of how to secure the tonearm/cartridge assembly on this turntable. Would be double boxed also.

Cardboard shims and tape might do the trick.
