Hi Folks, I bought a pair of Energy C-500 1 month ago and found that it's my most satisfying speaker in terms of bass extension, especially in a tiny floor case. I don't even need a powered subwoofer to reach that low frequency which I guess is around 40Hz. I have a pair of Energy Connoisseur C9 but it never reach to the same deep compared with C500. I also have speakers with 12'' woofer, like Pioneer S910, but after hearing C500's bass, other speakers just can't satisfying me anymore. The weakness of C500 is the high and midrange seem hide themselves. Anyone has the same feelings? And is the bass coming from a good crossover adjustment, or the specific driver only? I am disappointed by other speakers' bass. Any other speakers that can reach the same bass extension level with C500? I would like to try them.

A 3-way with rear firing BR port (and efficiency that's equal to- or higher than your C500's + equal or lower bass extension + equal or larger midrange driver) is my guess. 
I tried different amp and put the speaker in different area in the room, the deep extension is there never decreased. For quite lots of speakers the official specs cheat, the dimension of the woofer too. I have a pair of Energy C-3, which give a strong bass (not the same deep with C500 though) and decent high/mid range, this is out of expecting too
I have not heard the C500 but looking at the specs, there lower response goes down to 35 -3db. It's possible that what you are hearing is what might be an overwhelming bass response especially with dual bass drivers. With this it might be causing overpowering the tweeters. It's great that you like the bass extention of the speakers. Many thing can be the culprit like room size and speaker position but could be the benefit. In the contrary, for being weak in the midrange response it can be a weak tweeter, issue with the crossover or just simply how they are designed and sound. I you like how it sounds, that is what matters.

That's the trick here, I maxed out the bass gain both on the DAC player and the amp, that saying it's actually a double time bass gain, and then the C500‘s deep bass comes alive.
Okay, this tells me that you just like a LOT of bass. Maybe you need an EQ to get the balance you want. We all have our personal preferences but if I needed that much boost I would assume something is wrong. What are you driving them with?
All the other speakers that I have are not able to reach that deep even with double time bass gain. I used different amp including Luxman R114, Pioneer A70(Vintage), Pioneer SA-940, all maxed out the bass gain. C500 just performed same.
