Should I GET RID OF...

I have a mc252 ,c2200 ,mcd201 ,ms300.

What path should i follow...get rid of the 252 and 201 and get 501s or get rid of 2200 and 201 and get mda1000.

I have not run my ms300 to the 2200 yet but everything i've read and heard says it won't sound as good as the 201. I did pose this question to Ken Zelin ,he said run the 300 to an mda1000 ,he didn't mention losing the pre but since the mda has built in pre and bout the only way i can get the mda is to sell two pieces i figured maybe i should sell off the two and get the one.

Depends on your speakers of course, but MS300 to MDA to 252 would sound very nice. But you know what will happen then...... :D
 
I would sell the C2200 and MCD201 and get the MDA1000.

I love my system with MS750, MDA1000 and MC501s. It makes a great simple 2-channel setup. The MS300/MS750 and MDA1000 are a match made in audio heaven. They will work very well with a MC252, MC501s would be even better but you can always add those later.

The amp upgrade would be nice but not even close to the improvements you would get with the MDA1000. Then again everyone hears things differently, if I were closer I would bring my MDA1000 over for some comparisons. See if you can get a MDA1000 to demo.

I'll second that!

If all DIGITAL, the MDA1000 as a DA/Pre is the best there is.

If you still harbor the thought of going back to vinyl some day, then KEEP the C2200, though new threads had it going that the C2300 is a better unit (personally, I prefer the warmth of the C2200, oh well, to each his own).

I had been down the all digital path, first the MDA as a pre to the MC501's, then 2 pairs of MC1201's, and then 3 sets of MC2000's, the musicality is first class (I am a poor describer of sound, so do pardon please for the poor choice of words), then got rid of the C2200 I had then.

The vinyl bug bit me and I am back with a C2200G (matching to the MC2000's).:D

In summary, my suggestion would be like what Vic had said, if an all digital setup, sell the C2200 & the MCD201 and go for the MDA1000. BUT if the vinyl bug may hit you one day, the sell only the MCD201. Put aside the C2200 for now as a static display in one of your shelves or cabinet (its nice looking by itself, even not powered up).:thmbsp:

As for the power amp, the MC501's would be the next target. Its great with the SF's you have now. PHC1 can vote for that!

Speakers are Mirage M3 from early to mid 90s im thinking early since they're not Si's. I got the speed and snap of B&Ws with the clean treble and smooth mids of SF's. The low bass needs help but thats why we have subs i guess.
Of all the speakers i've heard i haven't heard anything under 10k that i would
take over them. Of course that doesn't mean they'll sound good by adding the MDA1k but i'm thinking there is no way it'll be worse...and if it does well i guess a speaker shopping i will go.


Well thanks, i'm thinking MDA is the way to go.......now lets see what deals i can do and what strings i can pull.:scratch2:
