Should I return this brand new cartridge?

dodog, I really do not want to dig up this old thread to interrupt everybody, but after comparing your pictures with mine, I cannot stop laughing. I think it is very possible that I got exactly the cartridge you returned last year...

I have sent it back, the replacement will arrive this week.

I've seen a few other threads on other sites with users and the same problem. Apparently other high end audio technica moving coil carts have this same problem.

I elected to keep mine and I think over time it corrected itself...? I can have a closer look tomorrow. It never really affected the playback but it was certainly unsightly.

Probably. However, the body details looks very similar :scratch2:
Maybe it won't affect the sound that much, but this is my first oc9, I cannot use such a special one to define me its sound.

Just realize it was a oc9ML/II in original post. Mine is oc9/III.
So awkward:sigh: Anyway, it shows they share a same shell mold with same defects...

Looks like they will continue to send it to unaware customers, until someone keeps it. Seems that my original suspicion turns correct.

Is there any specific markins on a body that distinguishs III from II? I believe there should be.

The blems could be casting die artifacts with the same dies used for all similar carts, I'll try to remember to check mine next time I get to it.
Anyone else?
