Should I upgrade my 25 years old Dynaudio contour MKII

Dear music Lovers
I own those Dynaudio Contour MK2 since almost 10 years and they don't desapoint me.
However, I'm an Audiophile like you, I'm am always thinking how I could get a better sound.
I know that room and speakers are the predominant links in the sound chain. My room is medium size ( 30 sqm , 300 sqf), and moderatly treated ( RT60 arround 450 ms above 60 Hz). My main amp is an even older singel ended, solid state pure class A, 65 W in 4 Ohm, Pass Lab Aleph5.
I consider that my DAC is neutral,my Preamp is a rather smooth DC coupled discreate solid states , Aleph 5 is a smooth class A amp, and Dynaudio are neutral. Overal sound is fine for my taste.
I'm wondering how much mony I should invest to get significantly better sound ?
Could you recomend second end or new speakers that I should consider to make me happier ?

Sounds like you like what you have and seeing I'm of the "if ain't broke don't fix it" mindset then go with what you know.

However I hear you about wondering if there are better sounding speakers.

I'm sure there are, the question then is how much are you willing to spend? asking "how much money should I invest" will more then likely get you all kinds of answers some of which might not be in your price range

Where do you plan on shopping for speakers? on top of that if you can I would suggest demoing before purchase.

Absolutely!!!

The world is your oyster with that budget however what's better is really going to come down to you and your ears actually listening/demoing before purchasing.

Do you have any audio shops in your general area? The reason I ask is buying based on recommendations can be a crap shoot.

If you don't have any shops near you and let's say you buy online, be sure to check for return policies and return shipping costs.

Let's say you get consensus recommendations for a specific brand & model and decide these have to be good then purchase them then after listening to them decide they don't meet you requirements you'll then have to go to the trouble of packaging them back up and potentially paying to ship them back.

Another thing I thought of is you mention your speakers are 25 yr's old, they might benefit from having the crossovers recapped. I say might as 25 year old caps might still be in tolerance and fine.

Not really. I still have my Audiovector M1 Signatures of roughly the same era. Still very happy. Good is still good

Which model contour?

I just got a pair of xennon back up and running, the larger dome mids are a vast improvement over the two way. The contour uses the same tweeter and the 17w75 woofer I think. Nice drivers.

You can do better for that budget if you stay in the used market.

How are you on horn speakers?

As someone else already said at $2500, the world is “almost” your oyster. However, before you go down that road, have you considered just adding a good subwoofer? You may be wonderfully surprised what that’ll do for you with those bookshelves.
