Show off your Heresy's...

I haven't listened to Forte's or other higher priced Klipsch speakers just yet... these babies still "speak" to me. I love the unfinished birch. I've been tempted to stain/treat it, but I keep balking at possibly changing the color tone. Has anyone applied some kind of protectant that looks invisible, to maintain the raw appearance?

Here's a pair of (originally) unfinished birch Khorns that a friend of mine bought from the previous owner. He later had then finished. they look very nice in person.

Very nice! You've got quite the Klispch speaker range. I'm curious--how would you describe the difference between Heresy's and Forte's? Do you have them working together in the same system?

That Heresy sitting on top of your LS gives you a good indication of how much bigger the LS is over the H2. . .

Ok, it is a "show of your Heresys thread" but this is not even my Heresy. (Wish it was.) I always like to show this one. Made by Andy Barr for himself while he worked for Klipsch back in around 1978.

Here are mine (consecutive #s). And thank you Bob, I have your crossover and tweeter updrades, truly outstanding. These are currently running with my Pioneer SX-D7000 receiver. Dynaco A-25s on top & Klipsch KSB 3.1s to the left.

jgmacv....I have a pair of Dynaco A25s too, great speaker. I sanded the cabinets and then applied two coats of Danish Oil, they turned out quite nice. I also had to replace the speaker cloth....

No the Forte's are in a separate system in my living room/dining room. The Fortes are hooked up to a Marantz 2245 and an Oppo DVD player.

SQ wise, the Forte obviously have more bass, the Heresy IMO are a bit bass shy. I find the Heresy's midrange & treble much smoother than the Fortes, however, the Heresy's are hooked up to a tube CD player and tube/solid state amplifier.

I personally find the Heresy's less fatiguing to listen too. I don't think the room the Fortes are in helps as it has hardwood floors and a fair number of windows.

The Fortes have a much "bigger" sound to them for better or worse??

The way they're set up now I'd have to say I prefer listening to the Heresy..

Hmmmm.....I have 2 pairs that I guess I'll have to take some pictures of sometime. I have a pair of 1978 Heresy H-BR's (unfinished birch) that I've only changed the original caps out for Solen caps (sound great) and a pair of late 80's Heresy II WL's (walnut) with original risers I picked up early last month. Ironic, I found both pairs in December....a year apart. Neither get used that much unfortunately.

myu701, those are great pictures. What camera were those take with? Natural daylight or flash? Daytime or night? Tripod? Those pictures look good....

These used to be mine. HBR (raw birch decorator cabs) from the '70s. I liked the detail in the sound, but other than that I honestly never enjoyed listening to them very much.

That's gorgeous! Very special, something that won't likely leave Andy anytime soon I imagine. ;)

1984 Heresy I in Waterfall Bubinga. They are used as rear surrounds.

Waterfall Bubinga? Never heard of that. Was it a limited edition finish? Fantastic appearance. :thmbsp:

I like that bubinga, but I think I prefer the original HBR look. I have a couple pics of my '81s in the "Heresy score" thread. :smoke:

not sure what year...

i just scored these from my stepdad, who had these sitting in a closet for years. i have not hooked them up yet because my sansui 771 is in the repair shop. those are kg4's in the background w/risers. its funny, i found the kg4's on the local "list" a few weeks back...the guy who tested my heresy's also tested my kg4's in the factory! what a coincidence that they came from the same era. how can i find out when exactly they were made?
