Show us your Realistic (Radio Shack) stuff

Yeah - I completely understand getting taken in by the looks. Even though I knew I was getting into a "project TT," I bought it for $40. However, as I said above, finding parts for it has been like finding the Arc of the Covenant. [emoji29]

Don't know if turntables count, but below is a picture of the Realistic Lab 60, built by ELAC, for which I am forever trying to find parts.

Not the greatest pics, but here is my SA-1001 that I have owned since about 1990 ish. A RS had it on a clearance table for 100 bucks just back from service so I picked it up. It's a great daily driver with an honest 35 wpc when I am out relaxing on the patio in my mainland home:

It's driving a pair of Fisher STV-758's (garage sale for 10 bucks).

It's the Rig for this setup on the patio:

So a full system with TT, Reel to Reel (that's a Sony R2R on the top shelf that slides out to access), Cassette, CD Player and FM Tuner.

I don't care if all the components don't exactly "match" as it's in the patio and does the job.... and then some. The patio is enclosed with AC, so I basically live out there when I'm on the mainland.

This is posted somewhere but since this is Realistic focused I thought I'd pop it on here too.

Realistic SA-101 Amplifier (a whole 3.5 watts per channel) and a Realistic TM-102 AM/FM Tuner mated with a pair of real walnut veneer Realistic MC-600 speakers - acoustic suspension design with rubber surrounds.
....the amp even came with the original box, owners manual and warranty card (don't think I'll bother to send that in!)
....the little 2-gang tuner pulls in all sorts of stations clearly
…..complete with RCA adapter for my iPod/iPad, etc
....sounds pretty good actually!

That TT should be an ELAC 810. Built in the Mid Seventies.
It should easily be possible to find parts for it. The 810 has been also integrated into some compact systems of the German brand "Rosita".

No picture but my favorite is not Radio Shack gear but the earlier Allied Radio competitor and was a Knight Kit 10 in 1 you build it kit, with tube or tubes, that made and an amp, and other stuff including a AM transmitter. The AM transmitter was the most fun. Radio Shack came along a little later.

A couple of friends got the 10 in 1 for Christmas in the mid 1950s too and we had great time playing like radio hams and talking from house to house.

We all learned a little about electronics and how to solder and wire and build kits. Most would later build Heath Kit stereo gear and we knew we could do from all the practice on the Knight 10 in 1 kit.

This thread reminded me about my STA-2000 that I bought new I believe in 1976. So I went and dug it out cleaned it off plugged it in and the relay clicked and it came back to life. It has been in storage since I think 1996 when I was using it in the garage when I would work on my cars. I don't have a pic but it has a few nicks in the veneer and I would imagine it needs a good cleaning inside but it definitely had more than my 2030p's could handle without any EQ. I should yard sale it and let someone else get some use out of it. :music:

That looks just like mine. That cabinet looks just like mine. The stuff in the cabinet looks just like mine. Yep, I love that turntable and it works as good as it looks. Good luck finding parts-they only made them for 1 year and there are not a lot of them around. This one is now plugged into my STA-2000 receiver which is hooked to a pair of Optimus-1 speakers for a vintage Realistic sound

I do not think it is an 810 although they seem to share some components. The 810 is an idler drive while the Lab 60 uses an idler for torque and then a belt drive for playing records. I bought my Lab 60 new in 1979.

I answered a CL ad for the Lab440 turntable and the guy said he would throw in some other pieces. The other pieces were a Lafayette LM1500TA receiver and this little Realistic SA-10 amp. I found the minimus 2.5's at the Savers last week. I'm loving the Lab440 and the mini system is in my living room bookshelf playing my iPod and Spotify on my phone with a rca to 3.5mm. Sounds OK actually.

yard sale it to me to me.

So in my earlier posts in this thread I mentioned eventually getting another receiver and a pair of speakers.
A few weeks ago I came into possession of these. A Realistic STA-2300 receiver and a pair of Optimus T-200 speakers that needed the woofers refoamed(which is done).
I need to set all this equipment out and take a picture !!!

I had the exact same thought.
An STA-2000 would go nicely with my in-the-family-since-new Nova 8B set!

yard sale it to me to me.

Actually I paired the 2000 with a set of Behringer Truth B-2030p speakers and I have someone who might be interested. I am not sure how much to ask. I will post in the dollars and sense forum to get some idea.

'Should probably edit and repost in Dollars and Sense to play by the rules.
