Show your headphone amplifier

Sorry Guys, I have no dedicated headphone amp ... I could build one with Tubes, of course, but what for ?

* I barely - not to say nearly never - use my Sennheiser HD-280 headphone set.
* if I want to use it, I plug it in the phone jack provided on my amps.

I'll be honest : I would build one only by challenge... ;)

I always use my headphones with the computer. To avoid disturbing everyone else in the household. I have open-back sets (in case I need to hear doorbells or phones) and closed-back sets for critical listening. I play online games with them.

Did I ever tell you I like Sony?

It's been a very reliable unit! Knock on my wooden head!

WOW, that's impressive! But, I'm here to tell you that you can get that kind of performance for much, much less, but pure silver and silver-plate make a world of difference! :)
In 1981 starting a job I met an hi fi lover & he was happy he was getting silver wires for his mono blocks on Christmas &told me to buy a NAD 3020… good advice…

Get the actual components right first then shell out for cables etc. A world champion runner needs speciality shoes. But without him the shoes do jack. Get the champion components, then when one dresses them up, it counts for something.

no I’ve never had silver wire in my systems…but for a joke my pal who has a system worth over $ 80,000 lent me an ARGENTO brand RCAs($5,000) & WOW what difference even in my humble rig…
The OFC wire you're talking about is the type with many very fine strands, right? If it's the multi-strand type, that's good. But it's not really OFC; that's just a marketing term. The type I'm referring to has about 7 or 9 strands.

Thanks! Those are Kimber Kable's headphone line on the Sonys. They came with the phones. They are very flexible and do not knot up as easily as the usual two-line cables. I have no idea if they improve the audio.

;)
I know when I went to a silver cable on my Beyer Dynamic DT1990 Pro headphones I could tell an immediate opening and clarification of the mid-range, plus an overall image clean-up!! The sound was just more "real", plain and simple... :)

I apologize in advance, I don't mean to offend anyone. When others hear about sound systems costing tens of thousands of dollars, their reaction is usually "wow, that must sound amazing, it must be fantastic." But for me, I usually laugh scornfully and look down on those who own such systems. It's just a scam disguised as legitimacy. It's not really worth that much, some people even buy systems worth the price of several houses. A speaker cable costing as much as a house – that's the height of stupidity. They talk about anti-vibration shelves, power filters for the electrical outlets in the house, and expensive power cables. But inside the walls, it's just cheap electrical wiring installed by the construction workers. They are completely deluded. Just yesterday I watched a video of a very expensive high-end audio exhibition, and many people criticized it because the sound was worse than a system costing a few hundred dollars.

The problem is. I never heard the OEM cables with the Sony — only the Kimbers. Everyone tells me they are good, and I believe them. Darn things cost almost as much as the headphones.

The package deal of amp and phones was a very good one. It was an intro deal by Sony of Japan. I received the ad because I buy Sony camera equipment from Japan.

Trust me, after 46 years in the electronics biz, I know the high-end audio world is a disgusting joke.. the most absurd claims of pure absolute bullshiit, to baffle the masses and snatch as much coin as possible! Don't get me started... lol :P

Yes. That's a fact that many Audiophiles ignore - in good faith or because they can't change anything...

Some of my Audio friends that were at restoring or building their houses had a specially dedicated mains line run from the electricity arrival meter to their audio installation, a one-piece lenght cable of adequate section (4mm² or 6mm²). Indeed a good improvement to do - in the meantime, while they were at it.

The line in my little Auditorium is incidentally dedicated, since there's nothing else than Audio hooked on, but it's the usual 2.5mm² single core copper wire. I added a mains conditioner (DIY) to clean and protect that line :

I won't complain, though : it could have been much worse ! ;)

But OK, I'm derailing the subject... And moreover : I do not even have an Headphone Amp...

Jeebus Christos! That's a monster of a conditioner! I'm not familiar with the brand? Kraftwork? I have personally heard an incredible transformation in sound in my Brother's system with a power conditioner- at the time he was in an older apartment, with dirty power, and the addition of the conditioner made a dramatic improvement in sound... :)
