Shure M97xe Brush Up test..

Hi,

I am trying the M97Xe with the brush up! on the MCS 6401, Seems to sound better so far..
VTF @ 1.25gr.:scratch2:

Great Cart..I removed the Anti-skate weight, too heavy, causing it to skip.
Need to make a lighter one.

When you check the specs for the M97Xe, it does not mention the brush down VTF of 1.75gr.

i too have been debating the brush up/down with the M97Xe. I use it 'brush down'. i feel like it's there for a reason so might as well use it.
 
Are you adjusting tracking force to compensate for the brush? (it's greater up then down but I forget the spec or procedure)
 
The documentation that came with my M97xE says TF with brush up is 1.25g +/- .25g. With brush down, add .5g. Shure also says the brush "... maintains a uniform distance between the cartridge and the record under dificult playing conditions, such as those caused by warped records or mismatched tonearm mass. When such stabilization is not required, the stabilizer can be locked in it's up position, which can improve sound quality under ideal playing conditions." Shure also says the brush conducts static to ground and sweeps the record groove clean of dust and dirt ahead of the stylus tip.
 
I've got a Shure V15vxmr, and I also use it w/the brush up. I like the sound better also. The brush comes in handy if you have a really warped record, aside from that, a carbon fiber brush before play seems to work just fine for keeping static down.
