Shure M97XE

So I bought a table with very little use that came with a Shure M97XE with the original packaging, documentation, brush etc...

I had one of these a few years ago and didn't quite love it so I'm thinking about selling it but I'm not sure what to ask. Since it was recently discontinued, prices are all over the place. I've seen new ones at nearly $800 and used ones with unknown usage for $300 to $400.Those prices all seem quite high to me but are they really selling for these prices?

When they discontinued that cartridge the prices started rising, and kept going up. It’s really stupid in my opinion, but here we are. Just check completed sales and that will show you what they go for.

New, sealed examples are selling in the $300 to $350 range- which is absurd for a mediocre, mid-line cartridge. Made in Mexico -the quality control varied widely.. Much better NOS cartridges (or a new A-T) can be had for less.

I'm not sure why anybody would spend more than $250 on NOS M97XE. Slap a new Jico SAS replacement stylus on any used one and, from what I've read, it will compete well with the AT-VM540ml.

I sold a used one on BT last year, seems like I got $220 for it. Prices could still be going up

Holy moly... I'm pretty sure I bought mine for $53 new about 10 years ago. I bought a new genuine Shure stylus several years ago just to have as a spare for around $30. I still have it haven't used it yet. The original stylus is still good.
