Hi everyone,

Recently I purchased an n97xvl needle from LP Gear and I love it.
I've been wondering about one thing: what is the correct tracking force for this needle? Can the standard 1.75 with the brush (as for n97xe) be applied here? Right now I'm running it at around 1.6g with antiskate set by ear, which is around 1.1 on the JVC dial.

I was unable to find any information on the web. Maybe someone has the same needle and can share their VTF/antiskate setting?

I just got one of these too, really digging it so far but am wondering the same thing. right now I'm just doing the same I did with the shure, 1.75 with brush down and same on antiskate. What did you end up settling on and finding worked best?
 
Does the N97xvl compare favorably to the Shure OEM replacement? Does it address the roll-off in high freq response?

Does anyone have a comparison of it to the Jico SAS?
 
I have used all three stylii mentioned here, the stock M97xE, The LPG VL, and the JICO SAS. To my ears the VL stylus is the best, it does address the roll-off of the stock stylus and to me had a much smoother sound than the JICO - the JICO had too much emphasis on the top end which made it sound more like an Audio Technica than a Shure. Again, this was to my ears - I know many are fans of the SAS, but I did not like it.

The VL is now my go-to, sold the SAS with only a few hours on it.

I run my VL at the same VTF as the stock stylus - 1.25g with brush up, 1.75 with it down.
 
just curious why running at 1? even with the brush up 1.25 is usually recommended? I'm running mine in my Realistic RXT6 cart and think it sounds nice and smooth, more accentuating the highs and lows where the N97xE is a bit more mid rangy. I was surprised the volume is significantly lower, but no big issue. I have cap trim on my receiver and i still usually turn it similarly the way i use it for the original shure. Frankly I think the original n97xE is a little dark but always think it gets a bit of a bad rap on that. I have a great stereohedren Stanton that is darker than the N97xE..You can always add a bit of eq.
