Shure RXP3 Replacement Stylus

Just picked up a used Technics SL-Q3 which I am absolutely thrilled about! It does need a new stylus though. I know this is essentially the same cartridge as the M104E and thus can accept a wide range of styli.

Here are my current options:

Shure N-104E - $95
Jico N-104E - $56 (plus a months wait)
Jico N-110HE - $107 (plus a months wait)
Rivertone N97B - $20 (saw @boreas recommend this on another thread, if you read this, would you still recommend?)

I'm pretty new to the hobby and am upgrading from an AT LP60X. Is it worth it to get a nicer stylus or should I start lower and work my way up? Will I be able to detect the difference between the 104e and the 110he? Are there any other good cheap options I'm missing?

Thank you, but for some reason they don't have the JICO N104E or N110HE on LPGear, or at least I can't find them. They have original Shure and they have the JICO SAS version which is quite a bit more ($200).
 
You can get an aftermarket N97LT on that auction site for ten bucks. They're certainly the best bang for buck option you're going to find.

That one has the telescoping narrow cantilever and a soldered tie wire. Should be excellent.

Yup. He also has a new Swiss nude for $34 and Swiss bonded for $21. Still think the 97LT is the best value, although the nudes I've heard have been good.
 
I have several (3) of these. They are Jico styli. Very good, tracks at 1.3 grams. Bonded elliptical.

IMO, the best for the money out there.

Also, according to my measurements, the RXP3 is NOT the same as the M104. The 104 measures as an M91 body. The RXP3 measures as an M97xE body.

But either way, the 4771-DLT (N97-LT) is a great stylus for either one.

I got impatient and ordered the N97B from the same seller of that N97LT you mentioned (before I read your response). The N97LT looks cooler! If I like the N97B from him I'll give it a try. Any idea why that N97LT which looks a bit more complicated would be $10 less than the N97B from the same seller? I really don't know much about styli, so just genuinely curious.

The N97LT is a very simple stylus. It should be quite a bit cheaper.

A real N97B is a much more complex stylus. Telescoped cantilever, Dynamic Stabilizer Brush, more complex design, more plastic to precision mold.

The Realistic RXT4 used an N97B stylus assembly:

The aftermarket N97B typically looks like the stylus on the left (below). The actual, real, N97B stylus on the right:
