shure sc35c- anybody else impressed?

It depends on your tonearm. If you go to the JICO website, you'll find the following styli that will fit the SC35C and M35X cartridge bodies (as well as the M44GX, M44-7X, M70BX, M25C, M35S bodies)...

N44GX....high compliance
N44-7X...medium compliance
SS35C...low compliance
SS78E...for 78's

there are also a couple of SAS versions that will fit any of the above cartridges

I'd like to thank Malden for the tip on the Jico SS35C. Just got it today, have listened to a few records with it on my Garrard Lab 80, and the difference, and the improvement, over the current generation Shure variation is not subtle. This does not sound like a $22 stylus in the least. Try 4-5 times that, at least. Wonderful, full, lush sound but not at the expense of lost detail. I'm quite stunned. I really didn't think at this level there would be such a noticeable improvement, but there is. I'm tempted to order another one for back up and a 44-7X for the 35X.

I'm glad it worked out for you. As I've stated in the past, I now own about a dozen JICO styli for Shure cartridges and they are all excellent.

I stopped looking for vintage NOS Shure styli simply because they are too expensive, and you never know if the suspensions are compromised due to age or improper storage.

I have NOS 44-7, 44E, 91ED, VN15E, and a few others. I just prefer to stay original where I can. In the past when I bought Jico I would invest in SAS and mostly came away unimpressed, at least for the Shure replacements. A little too polite for my taste. But this plain vanilla 35C replacement took me for a complete surprise. Even with the high shipping cost it really is an excellent value.

The above statement bears repeating...

Been using the N35X in a M97HE body recently on a SME 3009 II unimproved arm, tracking at about 2.5g. Sounds great and brings a little more gain to the party then the HE. Like other Shure carts, the M97 seems to happily accept a whole slew of stylus' from other Shure carts.

After reading this thread, I tried N97 and N95 styluses on an SC35C. The N97 would involve surgery, but the N95 fit just fine and sounded good at 1.5 gr even on a Rek-O-Kut Micropoise. The SC35C just keep getting more interesting.
I'm using an aftermarket N97HE on my SC35C with no surgery required. The M97 and SC35C are seemingly interchangeable.
