Shure SE-20 phono stage adjustment

So this Shure SE-20 phono stage has two adjustment pots, for channel level controls. They look to be in the same spot and I haven't touched them yet. I want to, however, make sure that both channels are set exactly to the same level. How do I do that? Things I do NOT have: o-scope, signal generator. Things I do have: digital multimeter, Android phone that can continuously generate tones using an app.

How can I measure output using my DMM? I really don't want to trust my ears.

It is actually your ears that you have to trust!

These are only level controls that you adjust so the phono output matches the tuner, tape or aux levels when switching between sources so one source isn't louder than the other if you were to leave the volume control at "lets say" 3.
