Shure V15 Type IV Stylus recommendations

Just installed this on a Hitachi HT-500, has a generic elliptical on it now, I'm contemplating upgrading it though. Is it worth doing a vivid line, or better?? Is it that good of a cartridge? I know the type IV never really got a lot of talk about it. Everything is either the III, or V-MR.

IV was a great cartridge but the V/MR was better back then. I have never been happy with non OEM replacements so I got rid of all my Shures and Stantons, and after some help from friends discovered Dynavector 20 series and XX series, I have always preferred the sound of MC, though back in the 70's and 80's the V-15's and 881's did track significantly better than the Ortofon MC's. I never went back to Ortofon, though they track very well now days. They make some great MM cartridges now days. The MM Black is one I would choose if I were going back to MM cartridges. The Bronze is to bright and lacks bass below 70 HZ or so. If cartridges don't do the bottom three octaves correctly I have no interest in them.
 
It's a great cartridge. I also have the III and the V, but I don't waste my time comparing them.I'm using mine with a hiperelliptical tip that I mounted myself into an old Ed Saunders' clone and it sounds great. I also have a NOS stylus with hardened suspension, which I'll have someone repair someday. However, I think my stylus sounds more alive and pleasant (to my ears, anyway) than the original.

I have a Dynavector Karat 23R, and Benz Micro Ace M that I'm contemplating using. I've had a few Ortofon as well, and the same Stantons.

The phono stages I have are external , but I'm using the receiver for now while getting everything up to snuff. I may just pull the trigger on an SAS.
 
if youre interested in what that cart is supposed to sound like with an oem stylus, jico sas. the extra mass of a modern aluminum cantilever and bonded tips is going to take it away from neutral.
 
I'd expect the OP has moved on past this thread but I've replaced Shure OEM w SAS & Vividline.
I've found the SAS more difficult to set up for marginal gain over a Vividline.
But, I haven't trialed in a long time so maybe my opinion would be changed by comparing them again.
I enjoyed both way more than the OEM stylus but neither sound like an original Shure stylus.
