Shure VN35E?

MacNoob

dazed and confused
So awhile back I bought an SL-1700 that came with a V15-III cartridge. Unfortunately it turned out that the cart was bad (dead channel).

I'm left with a couple of VN35E styluses. One in a "Genuine Shure" plastic box. One that was in the cart. I had a turntable tech look at them today - he says the one from the cart looks like it's used but in fine shape. The one in the box possibly has never been used (or used very little).

I have plenty of cartridges so not much desire to source a V15-III to try these out.

Can't find any OEM Shure styluses on eebay to compare price. What do you suppose these might be worth?

No input? Now that we can get JICO SAS etc does nobody want the original Shure items any more?

The used stylus market is a dodgy one. Not a lot of people want to invest in a stylus with an unknown history, and it's very hard to tell if it is chipped or damaged even with a microscope unless you really know what to look for plus there could be suspension issues. I'm sure if you put it up you'll get some takers though.

you may have single handedly killed your own thread by providing the best possible answer yourself...

the force is strong in this one :thmbsp:

1:
You should really change your mind, and find a cartridje to try them out.

2:
They're not on eBay, because very few people have them to start with, and if somebody has them, they are not for sale.

3:
Jico, SAS, and the rest of them are only wan•na•bee, some of them good and some of them very very good, no doubt about it, but they are not VN35e

You are one lucky individual, keep them, and enjoy them. :thmbsp:

Send them over here. I'll test them for free, and send them back...in a few months or so. ;)

Thanks for the responses. I know a local guy that has a V15-III body "in a drawer somewhere"; I asked him what it would take for him to go look for it...
