Side Panel Screws for Pioneer SX receivers

I recently purchased a SX-580 from shopgoodwill.com at an [almost] reasonable price. I've made other bad decisions in my life also. But this not the place for that discussion.

It came with 6/32 screws holding on the side panels. Or better said NOT holding on the side panels. After recovering from the heart attack that was induced by looking at prices of original screws on Epray from the guys selling parts, I eventually discovered that they are called "washer-head machine screws". After plowing through gigabytes of listings for silver ones, I eventually found these on Amazon:
Comdox 280-Pack Phillips Cross Washer-Head Machine Screws Nuts Assortment Kit, Carbon Steel, M3 M4 Thread Size, 8mm to 20mm Length, Fully Threaded, Black Oxide Finish

$16.00 for more than I will ever need. Take my money please!

So I now have a complete collection of Pioneer SX--80 series receivers except for the big boy SX-1980. I've had a couple leads but people just don't want to give them up it seems. One person locally did say I could borrow his for a photo shoot. Or did he want me to bring mine all over to his place? I don't recall. CRS is getting worse.

Hope this helps someone. I know it will help me when I forget. . .

FGMN,

DID YOU ORDER THE SCREWS YET? I HAVE A SX-680 THAT I TOOK APART; GAVE UP ON & now TRYING TO SELL SOME OF THE parts/ PERIPHERALS ON EBAY. I COULD SEND YOU THE SCREWS I'M NOT SURE IF THEY WOULD FIT. Would seem like they would be universal

Thanks for the kind offer. I will PM you.

My understanding is that the 580 and 680 are physically the same on the out side. They just push a few more watts out of the 680.

Similarly:
780 and 880 are the same size.
980 and 1080 are the same.
1280 and 1980 are the same width but 1980 is taller. And has bigger meters. I like big meters and I cannot lie.

I have not counted all the buttons on all the units but sometimes they just add more buttons to make people think they are getting more features. In my opinion more buttons are more things to go wrong. And/or add more distortion.

My replacement screws showed up today. And just like a Tinder profile, they are not exactly the size I expected:

Replacement on the left, original on the right. But the kit included the correct length. 16mm is the length of the original.
The head on the replacement is about 8mm and the original is about 12.5mm. It would also be nice if the replacements had a tapered tip to make it easier to line up with the hole in the receiver. (Yes, I managed to type that line without laughing about my previous Tinder reference.)
Good enough for the girls I go with. I can always add a washer if need be.
I suspect a better solution would be to buy black screws and black washers and not worry about them being combined in one unit.
Moving on.
