That is pretty steep price for what is essentially a 6dj8. I mean if your preamp costs 3 or 4 thousand and you want the best tube in it then by all means. But if you think that tube is going to make your preamp sound like a 3 or 4 thousand dollar preamp you may be should save your money for a 3 to 4000.00 preamp.

I have a schiit valhalla II and I think it would sound pretty good in it. Is there any reason you would say its overpriced? I've seen other siemens Cca tubes sell for $300-500. Ill admit im not very knowledgeable about good tubes so what would be a good tube to use with it?

IMO, $ 300-500 for ANY 6DJ8/E88CC/6922 family tube is way overpriced. OK, the CCa has a strange designator code and is pretty rare, thus since the audiophile community has decided it's the best sounding E88CC ever made the price is skyrocketing. I had a few Siemens CCa samples and when compared to the more common (and much cheaper) E88CC variant (also made by Siemens) I was unable to detect any differences in sound, noise, microphonics or internal construction. There's no doubt the CCa is an excellent tube but you're mostly paying for the hype and unusual name.

I agree with Tubo, I have a small number of those CCA and in my MFA preamp they were not significantly different in sound from my favorite 6922 or 7308 tubes. Both of which are a fraction of the price of CCA.
 
Paying that price (not that I ever would!) for any tube while not being able to actually test it myself and verify it's performance in-circuit is out of the question.

The problem is that while a tube may give excellent test results,in an audio application it may be so noisy and microphonic as to be unusable,but still be ''AS DESCRIBED''.

Sure,this may be the alleged finest example of this type ever manufactured,but it's also been subjected to who know's what in terms of handling (or perhaps even usage,because who can really tell?) over it's very long existence. Nope,not for me.
