I'm about to buy the Y cords that I need to hook up this new subwoofer that I have to my Marantz 2270. I'll be using those Y cords on the preamp/power amp inputs and outputs. Since I'd rather not move my receiver, until I'm doing the hookup, because it's a big PIA with the way that it's set up, I'd rather not pull the thing out to check so I'm wondering what kind of posts it has (for the preamp/power amp connections), male or female? I'd guess that they the same female ones as all of the other connections, but I don't want to assume...

If you're referring to pre out amp ins, I'm reasonably sure they're rca.
If you're referring to speaker connections, I'd do a Google search of 2270 images

Yeah, I know that they're RCA, just wanted to make sure that they were the same female connections as the rest... or not. Photos on the net all seem to show the jumpers covering up the connections so it's impossible to see.

Fortunately, it seems that someone who knows chimed in.

Those area speaker connections and not pre/power amp connections - different things.

It IS confusing in the sense that I feel like I'm getting conflicting information.

From what I understand, it seems that the preamp portion should go to the single end of the Y cord and then the side with two ends should go variously to the power amp and to the subwoofer, which requires one Y cord from each channel of course. If the preamp/power amp connections are in fact female it seems that the Y cord's single end side should be male, but your link lend me to a cord that had a female on the single end, which is either incorrect or I'm confused about hooking this thing up. I'm figuring that the most important connections are from the preamp to power amp, so I want the most direct connection without any adapters for that, thus I'd want a Y cord that's all male connections. I already have a cord for the subwoofer that has male RCAs on both ends. One side will go into the sub, of course and the other to the Y cord, but since that Y cord end will also be male, I'll need to use an adaptor that links male to male. This way the part that I'm using the adapter on is on the subwoofer side of it, not the amp...

To put it simply, it seems to me that if the connections on the amp are indeed female, then the link that you provided is for the incorrect type of Y cord.
 
All line level inputs and outputs are female RCA. Pull the jumpers, use your "Y's" and your good to go!

I think your Y adapters are what's probably confusing you. Without looking at any posted links, you want these:

Just remove your jumpers and connect both the male ends into your pre outs & main ins. Now just use a simple pair of regular male double ended RCA's from the Y female end to your sub.

Look up at my post. I edited and added what you need.

opnly bafld shows a pair which you need for right and left. I just showed a single one. You need two.
