Silsonic Tube Amplifier

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the Silsonic brand of tube amps. About all I know is they were made in HK from about 1992 onwards. I rescued a SAP50ET, which is an A/B, EL34 driven amp. I believe there was also a KT88 version, which dropped the 'E' in the model designation. I tried to find out info, but seems they are long gone, as a company, and there dont appear to be many of their amps out there. After the major cleanup and removal of cigarette tar from the amp, it came up looking pretty good. The front panel is a 'champagne' brushed aluminium finish, and I believe the KT88 version has a plain brushed aluminium finish. The amps i believe look identical other than this. I did a 'shotgun' recap with Nichi's on the board and Mundorfs in the output. It runs GL KT77's and GL pre's, and the output, power trannies are original, as is the choke and smoothing caps, all on top of the chassis. I think the EL version outputs about 35W + 35W RMS, and this pumped into my 96db 3way TL floor standers gives a pleasing to my ears, result. Great mids, clean and tight but not OTT bass and reasonably bright highs. Anyway, would love to hear if anyone knows more than the next to nothing that I know about them, thanks in advance,
Mike.

Some pics of it. It does have a cage, but removed for these pics.
The choke and the two output transformers are potted.
Unfortunately, there was no owners manual with it.
The back has just two sets of rca inputs, 4 and 8 ohm speaker outputs and IEC inlet.
Its running as a power amp in these pics, but can be used as an integrated amp also.

Link has some good info. I realize sometimes an American dot com can reach differing info. Nice amp, though I didn't find any HK related in the info, though Silsonic makes their own transformers.

Thanks Hajidub, I will check it out. It will be more than what I know currently for a fact. Cheers.

Interesting, certainly more info than I had before. Definitely early Chinese but of a reasonable quality, with a reviewer of the time lusting after one..:D:D
