I am servicing this unit for a friend. It was covered in a layer of garage grime and the cover was very scuffed and dirty and was difficult to see through. It was hand polished and waxed and everything else cleaned and touched up. Aligned the tuner and controls and belts cleaned. Also replaced a couple of light bulbs.

There is not much information on these. But I found something interesting inside. A Capetronic sticker on the tuner board. I just happen to specialize in the Capetronic built MCS receivers such as the 3245, 3235, 3233. I have never seen anything else made by them until now. And this unit is also made in Taiwan like the MCS receivers.

Note: the 8-track recording level slider knobs are not original. They were missing, so I used some Soundcraftsmen EQ knobs and painted the center notch silver to match.

If anyone knows any more information on either Silver Marshall or Capetronic, please add.

For those wondering about the table that it's sitting on ... It is a custom built table that uses recycled parts. It can spin 360 degrees while plugged in. It is built on a heavy duty turntable platter and bearing.(I don't remember which model) And it spins effortlessly. The electrical goes from the power cord at the base, and into the box above. The box contains standard screw in motor brushes that ride on slip-rings made from polished brass pipe. It is supported on an adjustable metal pole sitting in an old desk chair roller bottom. The power passes through the slip-rings in the box up to the power outlet mounted on the table. It works very well for service and display. It was made for me by a former maintenance engineer.

Somebody is trying to sell this thing, complete with speakers, on Facebook Marketplace. The $75 asking price has already been reduced to $70, and I suspect it will continue to drop, even though it looks pristine. I suppose this was the cat's pajamas in 1970. If you're a collector of oddities it's in Fort Wayne, IN.

It's pretty typical of all-in-one units... not very good. It's good if you're on a tight budget, but that's about it.
