Silvertone Radio Model 1420

Very old looking console radio. Has certificate/instructions in decent condition. Looks very old, quick web search shows maybe it was made around the 1920's. It's a Sears Roebuck product.

Anybody into these? Any idea what it's worth? My mother has it, asked me what to do with it, as she is cleaning house.

Yes, some of us are into these. Silvertone was indeed a Sears brand. Without a picture it's hard to know, I was unable to find one, but schematics indicate it's a 5-tube radio with three 24's, an 80 rectifier and a 45 power output tube. Typical tube types for late 20s to early 30s. Not a particularly high tube count, so it is probably not a spectacular performer. The cabinet style and condition will probably determine the value more than the chassis. Anything from that era that's in good shape is worth something, so it should definitely not be thrown out. It should bring some bucks at a garage sale or Craigslist, or if nothing else, donate it to a charity like Goodwill.

Any chance of getting a picture?

Any pics of it? I'll see if I can dig out my valuation guide, but right off I would say about $100 tops. The Silvertone consoles were pretty mass produced so you see a lot of them on the market. I had six at one time and sold them all off except for my "airplane dial" ones.
