Similar to BA A200's/400's?

I recently had a deal fall through for a nice pair of Boston Acoustic A200's, which really bummed me out. I did a lot of reading and everything about them seemed great, but since the deal fell through and I'm still looking for speakers, does anyone have suggestions as far as a similar sounding speaker? It's kind of tough finding A200's or 400's so just in case I can't, I'd like to have my eye open to other great speakers. I haven't heard many speakers so I was hoping to get some insight from all of you experienced folk.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Sorry to hear your deal fell thru :( The A200's and 400's are kind of hard to find, compared to the others in that series. As to other speaker that may sound the same, thats kind of tough. The only way would be to hear some 200's or 400's then try to compare. Now, I have 400's and with my 200wpc Yamaha power amp, they sound incredible. So much so, i have really stopped my speaker search. I still look thru CL and Barter Town, but I am that happy with these 400's. If I were you, I would try to go to an AK get togther in your area if there is one. Thats the best way to audition different speakers and find some you may really enjoy :)

Just throwing an idea out there - what about a pair of A70's with a sub? Those are easier to find and usually not for much coin.

what about a pair of A70's with a sub?

I guess I've never thought of trying a sub with a smaller set of speakers. I have a Technics SA-600 as my unit which doesn't have a sub input. I'm guessing you just wire the sub in-line with the speakers but I'm not too sure. How does a sub sound without a receiver with input sub?

I would go for A150's if I came across them, I liked mine better than the 200's.

What made you like the 150's rather than the 200's?

Thanks

You would need a sub with speaker line inputs. It sounds good, as this is what I run in my main listening room with some bookshelf Phase Techs. See attached photo as an example. So that would be a good option to consider. The A150's are much easier to find than the higher up models. But it boils down to what you enjoy. You might have a listen to some A150's and see what you think :)

I never knew about the speaker line inputs like that, I'll keep an eye out for that. Thanks!
