Simple Panloc question

perryinva

IS it vintage????
I've been buying cases to fit my McStuff. My question is about the round back piece on the rear of the Panloc bracket that the end on the Panloc rod on the unit plugs into. Are they supposed to be somewhat loose in the bracket? Everyone I've gotten has been, and looks like they can only get SO tight...Would it be prudent to add some non-migrating lube to make the Panloc operate easier? I've seached the archives on "Panloc" and come up with bumpkiss. Also, I assume that the Panloc brackets only attach to the metal strips that are screwed into the wood of the cabinet. Thanks for your patience.

Yes, they are supposed to be loose. You can see that they are retained by two hex nuts jammed together, leaving some movement in the the bracket, rather than being snugged down.

Not sure about the lubricant. They've never been a problem.

Yes, each Panloc bracket attaches to one of those angle brackets in the front of the cabinet with two 6-32 screws (unless the 'taller' ones require more screws).

Funny thing is, I cannot find the discussion on lubricating PANLOC rails which are getting gritty and sounding more and more like a chalkboard. And that's for the Pre-amp. The Power-amp is even worse and it's becoming difficult to slide out or even budge!!

Here are some Pre-amp rail pics with aluminum or paint dust on the hand (removing the amp) and black paint dust on the index finger from swiping along the PANLOC bracket.

I'd like to find some thin Teflon strips or even devise some roller bearing mod!! :scratch2:

The jam nuts have all been loose on mine as well, another reason that I asked!

Well yes, I think they must be loose so the rods will engage them even if not directly aligned. Hope I didn't hijack your thread mate. Searched for a discussion about lubricating PANLOCs but could not find the topic where we last raised the issue of the rails.
