Singer Bryan Ferry 66, marries son's ex gf, 29

I bet the son thinks a little bit less of dear ol Dad now. :nono:

If my dad dated one of my ex girlfriends, many of whom I am still friends with, I'd say "way to go dad!" Him and I are very much alike, he's just older. Of course, my mom would be pissed.

Wow, this is encouraging as I'll be 66 in 6.5 years ! I'll have to tell my boys to start lining up the cute 'n nice ones!

I don't have anything to say about this subject except good for him. But I saw him a few months ago at small venue and he was amazing.

My cousin had an affair with his daughter in law . And ended up marrying her . The up side , no matter what I do , I can't be the black sheep of the family .

What else is new? Another old male fart with a mid-life crisis marrying his daughter? Come on! I know there are "some" women on this site.

The male feedback is juvenile, for the most part. If you're still looking for Young love at 66, it seems to me that you've spent far too much time NOT looking for your "Self"!

There are some really wonderful women closer to Mr. Ferry's age. I guess the problem is that Mr. Ferry's mental age is not "66". Does he also drive a RED Ferrari and have a beach house in Malibu, I wonder--how self-indulgent can we get? lol

Yeah, I know it's "true love" (Svengali-style).

I have never found age and maturity to be directly related. When I was 30 I dated an 18 year old who was smarter, more intelligent, and just more fun to be around than anybody I had dated who was older. We even moved across the country together, and her parents loved me.

Societal norms are bullshit. There are old souls and when they meet, age means nothing.

Also, for the life of me I can't see what is so exciting about growing 'up' instead of just growing older. So many people spend so much time reminiscing about the good ol' days. Why? Because they stopped living them. Stay young if you can- all it takes is understanding that maturity doesn't have to equate to being a bore or that you're too old for the the things you like doing.

Well John, I never knew you were a Humbert Humbert type.:D

Inside her there's longing
This girl's an open page
Book marking - she's so close now
This girl is half his age

"....wanted wanted, Delores Haze. Hair brown, lips scarlet. Profession: none, or 'starlet'".

My current love is only 4 years younger than I....just for reference...

To an extent I agree with you. That is, there are a lot of older individuals who are "children", who never mature. But, and here I will try to be diplomatic, I teach people who are between the ages of 18 and 22 and I cannot tell you in all honesty that I've met "one" whom I would say wasn't without the anxieties, uncertainties of youth and still had a number of years to spend getting to really "know" themselves. And that has little to do with societal norms. Cross-culturally age and wisdom are fairly correlated, it is only in the Modern and Postmodern West and by extension to Modernity anywhere that "age", "elders" become dolts who drool, cannot climb up steps and have to wear Depends. Ernest Becker's Denial of Death touches some on why we spend so much time "valorizing" and overvaluing youth in our culture. But that is not here nor there. Most of them are still babies (not in a negative sense).

I have a son who is in his mid-twenties. By all measures he is kind, considerate, intelligent, hard-working, loving. But when it comes to "women". Well, he's NOT there yet (not mature in that area).

I remember myself at his age. I was well-educated and very understanding and compassionate. But was I as mature as I now am?

BTW, in my mid-twenties, there was NO woman my age who I found without problems, who I could relate to. In fact, I dated older women (not too old but 30-ish). So my experiences are just too different. And since I see college kids and interact with them all the time as an academic. I gotta say, you really do need some "more" time there.

My wife of almost twenty years is only three years younger than I. But in life experience, she's suffered through some of History's most traumatic moments. Such is life. You can learn Great things from such trials and tribulations, but few youngsters experience or process that. They just haven't had (usually) those life experiences that bend the self back on itself and break one in order to birth a better, stronger self.

And heck! Most people my age? Don't even get me started on them! Such a disappointment so many of us.

But I am pretty sure that Mr. Ferry is NOT finding his soulmate in a 20 something! But then again, perhaps Brian is only 20 something emotionally? In fact, I'd probably bet on that. The psycho-dynamics involved here would probably take a few years of therapy to work out?

I do have great faith and hope in "youth" or else I would not be doing what I am, but I also know them all to well. I guess that's why we call it "life"?

In any case, it seems that we're both with individuals who seem to be around our age? And that's...?
